i) Inception / Launch date
The Scheme was launched on 21 February 2000 by Franklin Templeton Mutual Funds.
ii) Risk level
The Scheme is moderately high risk bet and one should consider investing in this Scheme if the investment horizon is 5 years or more. The Scheme is suitable for wealth creation over long term.
iii) Redemption
Redemption proceeds are generally dispatched within 10 business days from the date of receipt of redemption request by the fund house.
iv) Fund Manager
The Scheme is currently being co-managed by Mr R Janakiraman who is managing the scheme since April 2013 and Mr Hari Shyamsundar who is managing the scheme since May 2016.
v) Entry / Exit load
1% of exit load is charged by the fund house if the units are redeemed/switched-out within one year of allotment. No exit load is charged for redemptions post one year of allotment. No entry load is charged by the fund house on subscriptions.
Tax benefits of investing in Franklin India Opportunities Fund
Long Term Capital Gains (“LTCG”), in excess of Rs 1 lakh, are taxed @ 10% without indexation if units are held for more than 12 months. Short term capital gains (“STCG”) are taxed @ 15% if units are held for less than 12 months. Investors do not pay any tax on dividends received but a Dividend Distribution Tax (“DDT”) is deducted by the fund house at source.
