HDFC Multi Asset Fund is a type of open ended multi asset fund with an aim to generate positive returns over medium time frame with low risk of capital loss over medium time frame. The fund invests in equity and equity related instruments, debt and gold in specific proportion as directed by the investment objective.

i) Inception / Launch date
HDFC Multi Asset Fund was launched on August 17, 2005 by HDFC Fund AMC.
ii) Risk level
Being an equity oriented fund, this fund is a moderately high risk bet and suitable for investors who have a long-term investment horizon of more than 5 years.
Redemption of Units will be done by a repurchase/buyback by the fund house. Under normal circumstances, your fund house will dispatch the redemption proceeds within 10 business days from date of receipt of request.
iv) Fund Manager
There have been multiple fund managers associated with the fund namely Chirag Setalvad / Anil Bamboli / Krishan Kumar Daga / Rakesh Vyas over varying periods. Chirag Setalvad has been the principal fund manager since 2005.
v) Entry / Exit load
The exit load is 1% if the units are redeemed within 12 months from the date of allotment in respect of purchase made other than through SIP. Also, if redeemed within 12 months from the date of allotment of units of each instalment of SIP purchase, the same applies.
Tax benefits of investing in the fund
Long term capital gains tax applies to returns on this fund. A capital gain registered during a period of less than 1 year is defined as Short-term Capital Gain (STCG). A capital gain registered over a period of more than 1 year is defined as Long-term Capital Gains (LTCG). STCG are taxed at the rate of 15%. Long term capital gains tax at the rate of 10% without the benefit of indexation.
