i) Inception / Launch date
Kotak World Gold Fund was launched on June 06, 2008 by Kotak Mutual Fund AMC.
ii) Risk level
Being a gold price linked mutual fund, this fund is a moderately high risk bet and suitable for investors who have a long-term investment horizon of more than 5 years. The fund carries risks associated with investing in gold and money market instruments.
Redemption of Units will be done by a repurchase/buyback by the fund house. Under normal circumstances, your fund house will dispatch the redemption proceeds within 10 business days from date of receipt of request.
iv) Fund Manager
Mr. Deepak Gupta is the Fund manager of this scheme. He has been managing the fund since January 31, 2015.
v) Entry / Exit load
The fund house does not charge entry load for investing in the fund. The exit load is 1% if the units are redeemed within 12 months from the date of allotment in respect of purchase made other than through SIP. Also if redeemed within 12 months from the date of allotment of units of each instalment of SIP purchase, the same applies.
Tax benefits of investing in the fund
Long term capital gains tax applies to returns on this fund. A capital gain registered during a period of less than 3 years is defined as Short-term Capital Gain (STCG). A capital gain registered over a period of 3 years or more is defined as Long-term Capital Gains (LTCG). STCG from debt oriented funds are added to the investor’s income. They are then taxed according to his income slab. Long term capital gains tax from debt funds is taxed at the rate of 20% after indexation.
