The Scheme is an open-ended equity scheme investing in both large and mid cap stocks. The portfolio of the scheme has undergone significant changes in recent months and proportion of mid cap stocks have increased. Large, mid cap and small cap allocation are around 51%, 35% and 10%, respectively. The Scheme is benchmarked against Nifty 200 TRI.

i) Inception / Launch date

The Scheme was launched on 9 September 2004. The Scheme was formerly known as Kotak Opportunities Fund.

ii) Risk level

Being an equity fund, the Scheme is moderately high risk proposition and suitable for investors looking for capital growth over long term with 5 year horizon.

iii) Redemption

Under normal circumstances, redemption proceeds are despatched by the fund house within 10 business days from receipt of request.

iv) Fund Manager

Mr. Harsha Upadhyaya has been managing the scheme since 4 August 2012.

v) Entry / Exit load

1% of exit load is charged by the fund house if the units are redeemed/switched-out within one year of allotment. No exit load is charged for redemptions post one year of allotment. No entry load is charged by the fund house on subscriptions.

Tax benefits of investing in Kotak Equity Opportunities Fund

Long Term Capital Gains (“LTCG”), in excess of Rs 1 lakh, are taxed @ 10% without indexation if units held for more than 12 months. Short term capital gains (“STCG”) are taxed @ 15% if units are held for less than 12 months. Investors do not pay any tax on dividends received but a Dividend Distribution Tax (“DDT”) is deducted by the fund house at source.

About Kotak Mutual Fund

The fund house is managed by Kotak Mahindra Fund (the “AMC”). It started operations in December 1998. The fund house offers schemes catering to investors with different risk appetite and was the first fund house in India to launch a dedicated gilt scheme.
