The State Government of Jharkhand launched the Mukhya Mantri Krishi Aashirwad Yojna (MMKAY) to improve the financial situation of the farmers. The MMKAY is an ambitious scheme for supporting the farmers financially and providing them with timely investment assistance before the Kharif season.
The primary objective of the MMKAY scheme is the reduction of the dependency of the farmers on non-institutional private lenders/loans. Under this yojana, the Jharkhand State targets around 22.76 lakh farmers for the financial year 2019-20 in a planned manner covering a Kharif cropped area of around 45 lakh acres.
The following farmers are eligible for obtaining benefits under the MMKAY:
The beneficiaries of the MMKAY will get Rs.5,000 per acre every year through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in their bank account. The farmers can use this benefit received for the following purposes:
A farmer who has more than 5 acres of cultivable land will not be given the benefits of this yojana. The government will give the amount to the beneficiaries under this yojana in two or more instalments. However, the applicants must have a bank account for obtaining benefits under this scheme.
The process to apply for the MMKAY scheme are as follows:
After submission of the application form, the government will select the beneficiaries for this scheme. The farmers can view their status to know if they are selected or not by visiting the official website and clicking on the ‘Search’ button on the homepage.
After clicking the ‘Search’ button, they need to select the ‘Beneficiary/Farmer’ option and enter the ‘Aadhaar Number’ or ‘Account Number’ and click on the ‘Search’ button. It will display the status of the applicant farmer.
