UPI transactions are hitting new records every month in India due to its simple money transfer concept. NPCI has created several guidelines to regulate the expansion of the digital payment ecosystem in the country. It said that an individual can transfer maximum amount of Rs.1 lakh via UPI in a day. However, HDFC Bank has specific limits for customers availing UPI transactions.
The HDFC UPI transaction limit is upto Rs. 1 lakh per day or 20 transactions for Individual to individual and individual to merchant in 24 Hours. If you are a new UPI user, you can initiate a transaction of a maximum of Rs. 5,000 for the first 24 hours for Android users and 72 hours for iPhone users after registration. The limit is the same even when you are using any UPI application.
If you have exhausted your daily transaction limit, you have to wait until the next day. Until then, you will not be able to make further transactions.
The table below provides the HDFC UPI limit for different scenarios:
UPI Transactions | Maximum Limit |
P2M (Person to Merchant) or P2P (Person to Person) | Rs. 1 lakh or 20 transactions/ 24 Hours |
Merchant collect and Capital markets (Such as Broking, AMC, Mutual Funds, Credit card payments, EMI, Loan repayments, etc.) | Rs. 2 lakh/transaction |
Using UPI for IPO Application | Rs. 5 lakh/transaction |
HDFC Bank has no specific limit for UPI transactions per month. However, you should follow the daily transaction limit to use your UPI in a hassle-free way. You should keep track of HDFC Bank's official site to track any changes to these limits.
There is no specific yearly limit of UPI transactions for HDFC customers.
There are no charges for UPI transactions for HDFC consumers. However, as per the new UPI guidelines, a 1.1% interchange fee is applicable for merchants for UPI transactions exceeding Rs. 2,000 made via Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI).
The maximum limit is Rs. 1 lakh per day, and for new UPI users, the limit is only Rs. 5,000 for the first 24 hours from registration. This limit can not be increased. However, as per a recent notification, RBI has decided to increase the amount to Rs. 5 lakh for educational fees and hospital bill transactions.
Overall, UPI is making online transactions easy and secure for everyone around the country. Every bank has UPI limits to regulate the expanding digital payment ecosystem. HDFC Bank does not allow you to increase the limit manually. Now that you have a clear picture of HDFC Bank's UPI limit, make sure to complete transactions accordingly to avoid any hassle.
