The Scheme is an open-ended thematic equity scheme which invests primarily in technology and technology related companies across market capitalization, in Indian as well as global markets. The Scheme invests in companies that are expected to benefit from the development, advancement and use of technology.

Franklin India Technology Fund offers following features: 1. The Scheme provided annualized return of 18.54% since inception and beaten the benchmark in 1 year, 10 year and 15 year investment horizon. 2. However, the scheme underperformed in 3 year and 5 year period.
Fund Information and Statistics of Franklin India Technology Fund
i) Inception / Launch date
The Scheme was launched by Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund on 22 August 1998. The Scheme is benchmarked against S&P BSE Information Technology Nifty 50.
ii) Risk level
Being a thematic fund, the scheme is high risk proposition and suitable for investors with high risk appetite with recommended investment horizon of 5 years or more.
The Scheme is open for repurchase/redemptions on all business days by fund house and redemption proceeds are generally paid within 10 business days.
iv) Fund Manager
The current Fund Managers are Mr. Anand Radhakrishnan, Mr. Varun Sharma and Mr. Srikesh Nair. Mr. Nair is dedicated fund manager for investments in foreign securities.
v) Entry / Exit load
1% of exit load is charged by the fund house if the units are redeemed/switched-out within one year of allotment. No exit load is charged for redemptions post one year of allotment. No entry load is charged by the fund house on subscriptions.
Tax benefits of investing in Franklin India Technology Fund
Long Term Capital Gains (“LTCG”), in excess of Rs 1 lakh, are taxed @ 10% without indexation if units held for more than 12 months. Short term capital gains (“STCG”) taxed @15% if units are held for less than 12 months. Investors do not pay any tax on dividends received but a Dividend Distribution Tax (“DDT”) is deducted by the fund house at source.
