About HDFC Hybrid Equity Fund

The Investment Objective of the Scheme is to generate capital appreciation / income from a portfolio, predominantly of equity & equity related instruments. The Scheme also invests in debt and money market instruments. The Scheme has provided returns of 15.78% since inception. The Scheme invests between 65% and 80% in equity and the remaining is held in debt securities. Its benchmark is the Nifty 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 65:35 index.

According to mutual fund advisors, aggressive hybrid schemes are expected to deliver around 12% CAGR returns, provided investors stay invested for three to five years. Any investor investing in this category must wait for three to five years to get decent returns. The Scheme is the third largest fund in the category, managing assets worth Rs 21,231 crore.

i) Inception / Launch date

The Scheme was launched on 6 April 2005. HDFC Balanced Fund was merged into HDFC Premier Multicap (equity fund) and the resultant fund changed its name to HDFC Hybrid Equity Fund. The Scheme retains the fund manager, characteristics, strategy, risk, and suitability of HDFC Balanced Fund. HDFC Balanced Fund was a top performer in the balanced fund category.

ii) Risk level

The Riskometer of the Scheme is determined as “Moderately High”.

iii) Redemption

Minimum redemption amount is Rs 500. Redemption proceeds are generally dispatched within 10 business days from the date of receipt of request.

iv) Fund Manager

The Scheme is currently being managed by Mr. Chirag Setalvad who is managing the Scheme since June 2018. Mr. Setalvad is a B. Sc and MBA from University of North Carolina. Prior to joining HDFC Asset Management Company, he has worked with New Vernon Advisory Services Ltd., HDFC AMC and ING Barings N.V.

v) Entry / Exit load

For units in excess of 15% of the investment, 1% will be charged for redemptions within 365 days. Beyond 365 days, no exit load is charged.
