About HDFC Index Fund Nifty 50 Plan
HDFC Index Fund Nifty 50 Plan is an open-ended scheme which invests in the stocks of 50 companies on Nifty 50 in the proportion that replicates the weightages of these stocks in the Index. The scheme aims to replicate the performance of the Nifty 50 Index with the least possible tracking error. The plan will rebalance the stocks based on the changing weights of the stocks in the index.

HDFC Index Fund Nifty 50 Plan offers the following benefits: 1. The scheme enables investors to invest in Nifty 50 stocks irrespective of the knowledge profile of the investors. 2. So, individuals with lesser knowledge of equities can still appreciate their capital in line with the Index. 3. However, on the downside, the Assets Under Management are under Rs 500 crores.

i) Inception / Launch date
The HDFC Index Fund Nifty 50 Plan was started on July 17, 2002, HDFC Mutual Fund.
ii) Risk level
Your investments in this fund will be at moderately-high risk. Only investors with higher risk profile should invest in this scheme after consulting their financial advisor.
The units can be redeemed on any business day based on the NAV prices. Under normal circumstances, your fund house will dispatch the redemption proceeds within 3-4 business days.
iv) Fund Manager
The fund is managed by Mr. Krishan Kumar Daga since October 19, 2015. He is a B. Com (H) and has worked with Reliance Mutual Fund, JP Morgan Securities, HSBC Securities, etc.
v) Entry / Exit load
The fund house does not charge any entry load or exit load if redeemed after three days of allotment. However, 0.25% exit load is charged if redeemed within 3 days of allotment.
Tax benefits of investing in HDFC Index Fund Nifty 50 Plan
The Short-term capital gain tax of 15% will be levied on unitholders if the units are held for less than a year. A long-term capital gains tax of 10% without indexation is applicable if units are held for more than a year.
