About Kotak Standard Multicap Fund

The investment objective of the scheme is to generate long-term capital appreciation from a portfolio of equity and equity related securities, generally focused on a few selected sectors. If an investor would have invested Rs 1,000 since inception, it would have become Rs 3,202 i.e. 13.48% of CAGR. The Scheme is benchmarked against S&P BSE 500 India TR.

Pros & Cons of Kotak Standard Multicap Fund

The Scheme has more than 70% of its exposure to large-sized companies, and the remaining is dedicated to mid and small-sized companies. Among multicap schemes, the Scheme has distinguished itself by following a concentrated strategy at a sector level and diversifying its exposure to stocks. Because of this strategy, the Scheme has beaten its benchmark every time in the past seven years. It has delivered 13.3% and 21.7% in the past three and five year periods.

Fund Information and Statistics of Kotak Standard Multicap Fund

i) Inception / Launch date

Kotak Standard Multicap Fund was launched on 11 September 2009 and the Scheme was previously known as Kotak Select Focus Fund.

ii) Risk level

The scheme endeavors to identify sectors that are highly likely to do well over the medium-term and takes concentrated exposures to the same. There are no restrictions on type of sectors the scheme could take exposure to and the portfolio will be generally diversified at the stock level across market capitalization.

iii) Redemption

Minimum Redemption amount is Rs 1,000. If the holding is less than Rs 1,000 or 100 units, after processing the redemption request, the entire amount/units will be redeemed from Scheme.

iv) Fund Manager

Mr. Harsha Upadhyaya has been managing the Scheme since 4 August 2012. Mr. Upadhyaya is a B.E (Mechanicial) from NIT Suratkal, PGDM from IIM Lucknow and CFA from the CFA Institute, USA. Prior to stint in Kotak Mutual fund he has worked with DSP Investment Managers Ltd. and UTI AMC.

v) Entry / Exit load

1% exit load is charged if the units are redeemed within 1 year from the date of allotment of units, no exit load is charged beyond 1 year.
