About L&T Ultra Short Term Fund
The Scheme is an open-ended debt scheme investing instruments such that Macaulay duration of the portfolio is between 3 months to 6 months. The Macaulay duration calculates the weighted average time before a bondholder receive the bond’s cash-flows. The scheme seeks to generate reasonable and stable income and provide liquidity to the unit holders. The Scheme is benchmarked against Crisil Liquid Fund Index.
Pros & Cons of L&T Ultra Short Term Fund
L&T Ultra Short Term Fund offers following features:
- Ultra short term funds typically provide 7-9% of annualized return which are moderately a little higher than the liquid funds.
- However, these schemes are more volatile as compared to liquid funds. The Scheme has provided annualized return of 7.45% since inception.
- The scheme only invests in corporate bonds and government securities predominantly with AA rating or above
Fund Information and Statistics of L&T Ultra Short Term Fund
i) Inception / Launch date
The Regular Plan of the Scheme was launched by L&T Mutual Fund on 27 November 1997 and Direct Plan of the Scheme was launched on 1 January 2013.
ii) Risk level
As the Scheme invests in highly liquid money market instruments, government securities and corporate debt, the scheme is moderately low risk proposition.
The Scheme is open for purchase/redemptions on all business days by fund house based on applicable NAV price and redemption proceeds are generally paid within 3 business days from the date of acceptance of redemption request.
iv) Fund Manager
The Scheme is currently being managed by Mr. Jalpan Shah who is managing the scheme since June 2014 and Mr. Vikas Garg who is managing the scheme since April 2017.
v) Entry / Exit load
No entry or exit load is charged by the fund house on subscriptions or redemptions, respectively.
Tax benefits of investing in L&T Ultra Short Term Fund
Long term capital gains are taxed at the rate of 20% after indexation (if held for 36 months or more). Short term gains are added to income and subject to short term capital gain tax as per income tax slab under the Act. Thus, holding for more than 3 years recommended availing tax benefits.
