About Reliance Quant Fund

The Reliance Quant Fund is an open-ended equity scheme. It seeks to generate capital appreciation over the long term by investing in an active portfolio of equity and equity-related instruments which are selected on the basis of a mathematical (quant) model. The scheme was earlier known as Reliance Quant Plus Fund and was renamed as Reliance Quant Fund with effect from April 28, 2018.

Pros & Cons of Reliance Quant Fund

  • The scheme invests in around 30-35 stocks from the stocks forming the S&P BSE 200 Index which are selected using a Quant model. It uses quantitative methods to choose the stocks and decide the portfolio weightage to ensure better returns.
  • As on September 30, 2018, the scheme is not ranked under CRISIL’s Sectoral/ Thematic Fund category.
  • Further, it has generated returns of 14.09% per year over the 10 last years (as on January 16, 2019). However, the returns over the last year have been negative (-4.66%).

The scheme was launched on 18 April 2008 by Reliance Mutual Fund.

According to the investment objective and asset allocation of the scheme, it has a High risk-level associated with it.

Redemption

An investor can redeem a minimum amount of Rs. 100 or any number of units. Reliance Any Time Money Card holders have no minimum limits. Further, the redemption proceeds are dispatched within 3-10 business days of the receipt of a valid redemption request.

Entry / Exit Load

There is no entry load in this scheme.

The exit load structure is as follows:-

  • If the units are redeemed after the completion of 1 month from the date of allotment of the said units, then the exit load = Nil
  • If the units are redeemed within 1 month from the date of allotment of the said units, then the exit load = 0.25% of the applicable NAV

Tax benefits of investing in Reliance Quant Fund

The following taxes are applicable to income arising from investing in this scheme:

  • STCG tax (units are held for a period of less than 12 months) of 15 percent on redemption of units.
  • LTCG (units are held for a period of more than 12 months), in excess of Rs 1 Lakh, is taxed at 10 percent without indexation benefits on the redemption of units.
