Why Banks Have Holiday on Saturdays?

All banks, private and PSU, are closed on all second and fourth Saturdays of each month, as the Reserve Bank of India announced in 2015 that all banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of a month. However, the bank will remain open and operate normally on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of the month. All banks are closed on Sundays. Customers can make online transactions through their bank's net banking portal or mobile app on second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays, even when the branch offices are closed.
