The Delhi Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana application process will begin within the end of this month. The first two instalments under this scheme, will be credited into the accounts of the eligible women by the end of this financial year, i.e. March 2025.

In the budget speech for the financial year 2024-25, the Delhi Finance Minister announced a new scheme for women, Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, where every woman resident of Delhi will get Rs. 1,000 monthly. The Delhi Government has allocated Rs. 2,000 crore for the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana Delhi or the Delhi Women 1000 Rupees scheme.

What is Delhi Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Scheme?

Various states in India have introduced schemes for supporting and uplifting women economically and socially, leading to women’s empowerment. One such initiative by the Delhi Government is the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana. It is a women’s welfare scheme announced by the Delhi Finance Minister during the Delhi Government’s 2024 budget speech. 

Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, every woman above 18 years will receive Rs. 1,000 monetary assistance every month. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to women belonging to economically weaker sections and help them lead dignified lives and become financially independent.

Who are eligible for the 1000 Rupees Scheme in Delhi?

The following women are eligible to get benefits under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Scheme or the 1000 Rupees Schemes:

• Women aged above 18 years
• Women having a Delhi Voter ID card
• Women who are permanent residents of Delhi

However, the following women are not eligible to receive the benefits of the scheme:

• Women already receiving pension or benefit under any scheme from the Delhi government
• Government employees and elected officials
• Women paying tax

How to apply for the Delhi women 1000 Rupees Scheme?

An official scheme portal will be launched soon through which eligible women can apply for the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Scheme will start soon. On 12 December 2024, the government announced that the application/ registration process would start in 10 days, i.e. by the end of December.

All eligible women will receive the first two instalments of Rs. 1,000 per month under this scheme by the end of the fiscal year 2024-25 (by March 2025). The Delhi government will also soon announce the detailed guidelines.

Benefits of Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana

• The Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana will provide financial benefits for about 45 to 50 lakh women in Delhi.
• Financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 per month will be directly transferred to the bank account of a woman.
• Since Rs. 1,000 is provided to women above 18 years, students can utilise this amount to buy additional books or take coaching classes and complete their higher education without having to rely on others for financial support.
• Women can take care of their personal needs and the needs of their families or children with the benefits received under this scheme without having to ask for money from anyone and be financially independent.
