Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana is an initiative of the Himachal Pradesh (HP) government for meritorious class 12 and graduate passed students. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to the class 12 students to pursue degree courses and graduates to pursue higher studies. Every year 150 meritorious students get scholarships under this scheme.

Many students want to continue their higher education but cannot due to being economically weak, resulting in their dreams of continuing education being incomplete. Thus, the Himachal Pradesh government launched the Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana.
Under this scheme, the HP government provides financial assistance to financially weak students to pursue higher education. It also helps the HP government to reduce the rate of illiteracy in the state.
The selected applicants will get Rs.10,000 as a scholarship per annum based on merit. With the help of this scholarship, students will be able to meet their daily expenses while studying. The scholarship should be renewed every year until they complete the degree or course, subject to obtaining at least 55% marks in the subsequent classes.
