Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana is an initiative of the Himachal Pradesh (HP) government for meritorious class 12 and graduate passed students. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to the class 12 students to pursue degree courses and graduates to pursue higher studies. Every year 150 meritorious students get scholarships under this scheme.
The scholarship under the Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana is awarded to the following students:
- Ten toppers each from the merit list of 10+2 science, commerce and arts provided by the HP. Board of School Education, Dharamshala for pursuing degree courses.
- Ten toppers from the merit lists of B.Sc., B.A. and B.Com supplied by the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, for joining an academic or professional stream.
Objectives of Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana
Many students want to continue their higher education but cannot due to being economically weak, resulting in their dreams of continuing education being incomplete. Thus, the Himachal Pradesh government launched the Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana.
Under this scheme, the HP government provides financial assistance to financially weak students to pursue higher education. It also helps the HP government to reduce the rate of illiteracy in the state.
Benefits of Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana
The selected applicants will get Rs.10,000 as a scholarship per annum based on merit. With the help of this scholarship, students will be able to meet their daily expenses while studying. The scholarship should be renewed every year until they complete the degree or course, subject to obtaining at least 55% marks in the subsequent classes.
Eligibility for Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana
- Applicants should be a citizen of Himachal Pradesh.
- Applicants should have passed class 12 in any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts) or B.Sc, B.A. or B.Com. Degree with at least 60% marks.
- Applicants must have taken admission in a professional and academic course.
Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana Application Process
- Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
- Click on the ‘New Registration’ option on the homepage.
- Click on the ‘New User? Register’ option on the next page.
- Read the guidelines, select the undertaking and click on the ‘Continue’ option.
- The registration form will appear. Fill in the details such as the name, birth date, email ID, bank details, and mobile number and select the gender, scheme type, scholarship category and state of domicile.
- Select the identification detail and verification and click on the ‘Register’ button.
- The application ID and password are sent to the applicant’s mobile number.
- After receiving the application ID and password, visit the NSP portal and click on the ‘Login’ option.
- Enter the application ID, password, and captcha code and click on the ‘Login’ option.
- After logging in, fill out the Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana application form and submit it.
Documents Required for Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chatravriti Yojana
- Passing certificate of class 12.
- Admission certificate.
- Certificate of diploma or courses after class 12 (if any).
- Aadhaar card.
- Admission receipt.
- Himachali bonafide certificate.
- Latest bank statement of the students’ bank account.
