Post Matric Scholarship for BC-EBC

Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for BC-EBC is a scheme by the Bihar Government for providing post-matric scholarships to students of Bihar state belonging to Backward Classes (BC) and Economically Backward Classes (EBC).

The PMS for BC-EBC scheme offers opportunities to BC and EBC category students of Bihar studying at a post-matric level in a state-recognised institution. The eligible candidates will receive a scholarship each academic year. The objective of the scholarship is to promote higher education in Bihar state.

Benefits of PMS for BC-EBC

This scheme provides financial assistance to fulfil the aspirations of deserving students by ensuring that basic financial needs for continuing their education are met. A scholarship amount which includes the following expenses is given to the eligible students:

• Maintenance allowance as per the course every month.
• Reimbursement of non-refundable fees.
• Additional reader charges for blind students. 
• Enrollment/registration fees.
• Tuition fees.
• Library fees and medical fees.
• Such other compulsory fees payable by the students to the university/institution.

Eligibility of PMS for BC-EBC

• Applicants must be permanent residents of Bihar.
• Applicant’s caste should be included in the BC or EBC list issued by the State Government.
• Applicants must be studying in a post-matric class.
• Applicants must have passed the 10th or 12th standard and be studying a recognised post-matriculation or post-secondary course, respectively.
• Applicant’s annual family income should not exceed Rs.3 lakhs.
• Applicants must be studying in a state or central accredited institution.
• Only two male applicants from a family are eligible for a scholarship. This limitation does not apply to girl applicants belonging to the same family.
• When a student gets a scholarship from another institution, they are not entitled to a scholarship under this scheme.
• When a student has cleared a course with a scholarship, they are not entitled to a scholarship under this scheme to study another equivalent course.
• When a student has cleared one stage of education and is studying in the same stage of education in a different subject, such as I.Sc (intermediate in science) after B.Com/I.A (intermediate arts) or B.A/M.A in a subject after M.A in another subject.

PMS for BC-EBC Application Process

• Visit the official ‘Post Matric Scholarship Portal’.
• Click on the ‘Students’ tab and select the ‘Registration for SC/ST Student’ option. 
• Click on the ‘New Students Registration’ option.
• Read the guidelines, select the declaration and click on the ‘Continue’ button.
• Fill out the form and click on the ‘Save’ button.
• Students will receive an SMS/email with login details after registration. 
• Log in using the credentials and fill in the required details.
• Upload the required documents and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
• The student application will be verified by the concerned institution and a duly constituted committee of the Government of Bihar.
• When the student is eligible for the scholarship, the amount will be released to the student’s bank account through DBT [PFMS].

Documents Required for PMS for BC-EBC

The documents required to be uploaded to get the scholarship under this scheme are as follows:

• Aadhaar card of the student.
• Bank passbook of the student’s account.
• Address proof of the student.
• Bonafide certificate from the institution.
• Fee receipt from the institution.
• Income certificate. 
• Caste certificate.
• Class 10 or Class 12 passing certificate.
• Previous year mark sheet.
