Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government offers various pension schemes to the economically weak and vulnerable groups in the state. Currently, the UP Government is offering three types of pension schemes collectively known as the SSPY UP Pension Scheme.
The three pension schemes launched by the UP Government are regulated and implemented by the Social Welfare Department. The SSPY UP Pension Scheme that covers the senior citizens, destitute women, and differently-abled categories are as follows:
- Old-age pension
- Destitute women pension
- Disability and leprosy pension
An online Integrated Social Pension Portal is developed to carry out the activities related to the SSPY UP Pension Scheme. The state government disburses relevant pension amounts to the eligible pensioners every month. It acts as a substantial source of income for the destitute, elderly and differently-abled people across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Purpose of SSPY UP Pension Scheme
The purpose of the old-age pension scheme is to provide financial assistance to the elderly people living below the poverty line to live respectfully without depending on anyone.
The purpose of the destitute women pension is to provide financial assistance to the destitute widows living below the poverty line. The disability and leprosy pension gives financial assistance to 40% or more physically disabled, hearing-impaired or mentally disabled individuals to help them make a living.
Benefits Under SSPY UP Pension Scheme
The benefits provided under the SSPY UP Pension Scheme are as follows:
- The old-age pension scheme provides Rs.500 every month for the eligible elderly persons of the state.
- The destitute women pension scheme provides Rs.500 every month for the eligible widows of the state.
- The disability and leprosy pension scheme provide Rs.500 every month for eligible handicapped persons and Rs.2,500 every month for the leprosy-affected persons in the state.
Eligibility Criteria for SSPY UP Pension Scheme
The eligibility criteria for the old-age pension scheme are as follows:
- The applicant must be a native of UP State.
- The applicant needs to be above 60 years of age.
- If residing in a rural area, the applicant’s net income must be less than Rs.46,080 per annum, and if residing in an urban area, the applicant’s net income must be less than Rs.56,460 per annum.
- The applicant must not be receiving any benefit from any other pension scheme.
The eligibility criteria for the destitute women pension scheme are as follows:
- The applicant must be a native of UP State.
- The applicant must be between 18 to 60 years of age.
- The applicant’s net income must be less than Rs.2 lakh per annum.
- The applicant must not be receiving any benefit from any other pension scheme.
The eligibility criteria for the disability and leprosy pension scheme are as follows:
- The applicant must be a native of UP State.
- The applicant should be above 18 years of age to receive the handicapped pension and above one year to receive the leprosy pension.
- The minimum disability to receive a handicapped pension is 40%, and the minimum disability to receive a leprosy pension is 1%.
- The applicant’s net income must be less than Rs.46,080 per annum, and if residing in an urban area, the applicant’s net income must be less than Rs.56,460 per annum.
- The applicant must not be receiving any benefit from any other pension scheme.
SSPY UP Pension Scheme Application Process
The eligible applicants can apply to this scheme on the Integrated Social Pension Portal of UP state. The application process is as follows:
- The applicants need to go to the Integrated Social Pension Portal.
- The home page contains ‘Old age pension’, ‘Destitute women pension’, and ‘Disability and leprosy pension’ tabs on the top of the page. The applicants must click on the tab applicable to them.
- Upon clicking on the ‘Old age pension’, ‘Destitute women pension’, or ‘Disability and leprosy pension’ tab, a page will open having the ‘Apply Online’ button.
- The applicants need to click on the ‘Apply Online’ button.
- The application form for the old-age pension, application form for the pension of destitute women after the death of her husband, or application form for divyang/leprosy pension will open in another tab.
- The applicants need to fill in the details on the application form, such as personal details, bank details and income status.
- The applicants have to upload documents, tick the declaration at the end of the application form, enter the captcha and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Documents Required for SSPY UP Pension Scheme
The documents required to be uploaded along with the application form for obtaining the benefits under the UP SSPY Pension Scheme are as follows:
- Income certificate.
- UP domicile certificate.
- Date of birth proof.
- Residential address proof.
- Recent passport-sized photograph.
- Husband’s death certificate, in case of an application for destitute women pension.
- Disability certificate/Leprosy certificate, in case of an application for disability and leprosy pension scheme.
