Investors and traders buy and sell company shares on stock markets. In India, the two major stock exchanges where trading of listed securities take place are the NSE (National Stock Exchange) and BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange).
However, investors and traders can trade in stock markets only during a specific time on the days these stock markets are working. They have certain days as holidays during which trading cannot take place.
Muhurat trading is held every year on stock markets during the Diwali festival in India. It is a special one-hour trading session considered auspicious for trading in the markets. Traders and investors participate in the Muhurat trading session to obtain blessings for prosperity in the upcoming year.
The Muhurat trading will be conducted on 1 November 2024 on the auspicious day of Diwali-Laxmi Puja. The stock market is yet to notify the timings of Muhurat trading 2024.
BSE has been conducting Muhurat trading sessions since 1957, while the NSE started this tradition in 1992. Experts provide that since the Muhurat trading session is only for an hour, the market liquidity is low, and often volatile trading sessions are witnessed.
