The Scheme is an open-ended equity scheme which predominantly invests in mid cap stocks. It concentrates on entities that have scalable opportunity, strong balance sheet, good governance and the potential to outperform their peers. The Scheme has provided returns of 19.46% since its launch.

L&T Midcap Fund offers following benefits:

  1. With a 10-year return of 14.79%, the scheme has outperformed both category average (13.45%) and benchmark index (7.02%) and thus a nice pick in category
  2. The fund has provided returns of 32% and 17.81% returns in 5 year and 3 year horizon and beaten the benchmark consistently however the fund could not outperform the benchmark in 1 year horizon
  3. The fund is ranked first in the mid-cap category.

Fund Information and Statistics of L&T Midcap Fund

i) Inception / Launch date

The Scheme was launched on 9 August 2004. The Scheme is benchmarked against Nifty Midcap 100 TRI Index.

ii) Risk level

The scheme is high risk proposition and investors whose risk-taking ability is high can look for investment in this scheme. The ideal investment horizon is 5 year period and returns in the short run could be volatile.

iii) Redemption

Minimum amount/Number of Units for redemption is Rs 500 or 50 units.

iv) Fund Manager

The Scheme is currently being managed by Mr. S. N. Lahiri and Mr. Vihang Naik. Mr. Lahiri is managing the scheme since June 2013 and Mr. Naik is managing the scheme since June 2016.

v) Entry / Exit load

1% exit load is charged if redeemed on or before 1 year from the date of allotment of units. No exit load is charged on redemption post 1 year of allotment. The fund house does not charge any entry load for subscriptions of units.

Tax benefits of investing in L&T Midcap Fund

Short-term capital gains made on sale of units within 1 year of allotment is taxed at the rate of 15%. The long term capital gains i.e. sale of units after 1 year attract tax at the rate of 10% (without indexation), over and above of Rs 1 lakh of capital gains made.
