GSTN begins pilot testing of return filing process

The GSTN is going to conduct a live test of the return filing process which will involve about 4000 taxpayers and will last over a fortnight. Once GST goes live this July, it is expected that as many as 80 lakh assessees will be using the portal to file their returns per month.

The minimum number of returns that a company will need to file in a year is 37 – this includes three monthly returns and one annual return. Concerns have already been raised about the portals’ capability to handle the large amount of data that will come its way soon. The live test should provide answers to this and any other concerns that experts have about the GSTN.
