The subsidiaries of CIFCL are Cholamandalam Securities Limited (CSEC), Cholamandalam Home Finance Limited (CHFL) and White Data Systems India Private Limited (WDSI). Promoted by M. A. M Arunachalam, M V Murugappa, and M V Subbiah on 17 August 1978 as a public limited company, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company (CIFCL), belonging to the Murugappa Group, commenced business on 22 Nov. '78. In 1986, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) took up a 28% stake, which was later increased to 30%.
