Promoted by Vinod Shah, Yogesh Shah and Akash Shah, Dynachem Pharmaceuticals (Export) (DPL) was incorporated in Dec.'92 as a public limited company. The other company in the group is Sonal Cosmetics. DPL set up a unit to manufacture micro crystalline cellulose with a capacity of 600 tpa in Gujarat. The import-substitute micro crystalline cellulose (MCC) products, are useful as binding agents. It finds application in tableting, suspensions, emulsions, chromatography, derivatives, ceramics, food, cosmetics and paints, etc. The company sells a major chunk of MCC to the pharmaceutical industry, wherein it is used in the production of tablets. MCC being a technology-intensive project, the company's ability to scale up its pilot plant to commercial size is the determining factor of its success.
