The Peria Karamalai Tea and Produce Company is a well-established tea company incorporated around 1910. It has tea estates located in one of the highest yielding zones. The company is mainly engaged in growing tea and cardamom. It made a few shipments of tea to the London Auction. The company is continuously adapting suggestions / recommendations of UPASI besides its own efforts for improvements towards better upkeep, productivity, etc. The benefits derived are cost reduction and improvement in the product quality. In 1990-91, the completed modernisation of its three factories at Nadumalai, Vellamalai and Karamalai. During the same year, it undertook to modernise its fourth factory at Akkamalai also.
