Reasons for Cancelling Gruha Jyothi Scheme

Many beneficiaries of the Gruha Jyothi Scheme had reported difficulties in opting out of the scheme when changing/ shifting their house. There was no option to delink one’s Aadhaar card or opt out of the scheme. As a result, people relocating out of rented accommodation could not avail of its benefits when moving to a new house.

Since then, the government has announced that you can delink Aadhaar from Gruha Jyothi connections. You can do this by visiting your local electricity supply office or online via the Seva Sindhu portal.

How to Cancel Gruha Jyothi Scheme Online?

Please note that the online facility for delinking the Aadhaar card to cancel the Gruha Jyothi Scheme is yet to be launched. When the online facility is available, you can cancel your Gruha Jyothi Scheme benefits by following these steps:

Step 1: Visit the Seva Sindhu website.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘Gruha Jyothi Scheme’ and select ‘De-Link of Gruha Jyoti Application’ option.

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number and click ‘Get Details’.

Step 4: Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number. The existing application details will be displayed. 

Step 5: Tick the consent, select ‘OTP’, enter the OTP and click ‘Submit’. 

Step 6: Provide the reason for the cancellation and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

How to Cancel Gruha Jyothi Scheme Offline?

You can cancel the Gruha Jyothi Scheme offline by visiting the nearest Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMs) office. Ensure that you take the required documents with you to the ESCOM office. Once you reach the nearest ESCOM office, request for delinking your Aadhaar number from the Gruha Jyothi connection. You will be directed to a customer representative who will assist you with the cancellation.

How to Check Gruha Jyothi Scheme Status?

You can check the status of your Gruha Jyothi cancellation request by following these steps:

Step 1: Visit the Seva Sindhu website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Track Your Application Status’ option.

Step 3: Select the Escom, enter the account ID and click the ‘Check Status’ button.

How to Check Aadhaar Linked to Gruha Jyothi Scheme?

• Visit the ‘Gruha Jyothi Acknowledgement Receipt’ page on the Seva Sindhu website.
• Select your Escom and enter your ‘Account/ Customer ID’ and click ‘Download Acknowledgement’.
• The acknowledgement receipt will display the application date, name of the person whose Aadhaar is linked with the scheme, contact number and address.
• If your name is there on the acknowledgement receipt, you can submit the Gruha Jyothi de-link request.
