The Telangana government introduced the Gruha Jyothi Scheme to help households reduce electricity expenses. Under this scheme, eligible families receive free electricity for domestic use up to 200 units per month.
Important: The 200-unit limit is a strict cutoff. Households using up to 200 units in a month receive a zero electricity bill. If consumption exceeds 200 units, even by 1 unit, the household must pay the full electricity bill for that month.

To apply for the Telangana Gruha Jyothi Scheme, an applicant should meet the following criteria:

Step 1: Download the Praja Palana application form from the official Telangana portal or collect it from the local Gram Panchayat or Ward Office.
Step 2: Fill in the required personal details and enter the electricity meter service number in the Gruha Jyothi Scheme section.
Step 3: Attach copies of the Aadhaar Card, White Ration Card, and the latest electricity bill. Tenants may also need to provide a rental agreement.
Step 4: Submit the completed application and documents at a Praja Palana centre, MPDO office, or Municipal Corporation office.
Step 5: Collect and keep the acknowledgment receipt for future status tracking.
