The BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Telangana, Gangula Kamalakar, launched an online application portal for the newly proposed BC 1 Lakh Scheme on 6 June 2023. This scheme provides financial assistance of Rs.1 lakh to persons belonging to the Backward Classes (BC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) pursuing caste-based jobs.
Gangula Kamalakar stated that BC and OBC persons working in caste-based jobs would get financial assistance to get the necessary equipment, tools and raw materials. This scheme will be launched concurrently by MLAs, ministers and others in their respective assembly seats.
Under the BC 1 Lakh Scheme, individuals looking for financial assistance to excel in their profession can apply for this scheme at - https://tsobmmsbc.cgg.gov.in. Individuals can use the monetary help received under this scheme to purchase materials and tools for craft-related handicrafts and professions.
This scheme was launched following the recent announcement made by the State Cabinet, outlining the programme’s framework for BCs and OBCs. Subsequently, the State Cabinet sub-committee chaired by Kamalakar finalised the guidelines for this scheme and launched the online application form, marking an important step towards its implementation.
The government has announced that this scheme will be implemented in phases, and the precise number of beneficiaries is yet to be disclosed. However, the initial phase may include approximately 50,000 beneficiaries.
