When Can EPF be Withdrawn?
The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) can be withdrawn either partially or completely.
Partial Withdrawal of EPF
This is allowed under the following circumstances:
*1. Marriage *- Up to 50% of the employee's contribution to EPF *2. Children's education *- Up to 50% of the employee's contribution *3. Purchase of plot *- Up to 24 times the employee's monthly basic wages plus dearness allowance *4. Purchase of house *- Up to 36 times the employee's monthly basic wages plus dearness allowance *5. Home loan repayment *- Up to 90% of both the employer's and the employee's contribution *6. Renovation of the house *- Up to 12 times the employee's monthly basic wages *7. Prior to retirement *- Up to 90% of the contributed amount with interest
Complete Withdrawal of EPF
This is allowed under the following circumstances:
- On retirement from employment.
- Unemployment for a span of 2 months or more. A gazetted officer will be required to certify the fact that the concerned individual had remained unemployed for two months or more.
How to Withdraw EPF Offline
Step 1: Visit the official EPFO portal and download the new composite claim (Aadhaar)/composite claim form (Non-Aadhaar) from the 'Downloads' section.
*Step 2: *Submit the duly filled new composite claim form (Aadhaar) to the concerned jurisdictional EPFO office. In the case of a new composite claim form (Non-Aadhaar), submit a duly filled form which is attested by the employer to the respective jurisdictional EPFO office.
How to Withdraw EPF Online?
Step 1: Visit the official UAN portal.
Step 2: Log in to your account with the user credentials.
Step 3: Check if the KYC details are correct and verified by clicking on 'KYC' under the 'Manage' tab.
Step 4: Once the KYC details have been verified, click on the 'Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C)' option under the 'Online Services' drop-down menu.
Step 5: Enter the last four digits of your bank account number and click on the 'Verify' icon.
Step 6: Sign the Certificate of Undertaking by clicking on 'Yes' and then on 'Proceed for Online Claim'.
Step 7: You will be redirected to the claim form where you will be required to select the purpose of the claim under the 'I Want To Apply For' tab.
Step 8: Click on the 'PF Advance (Form 31)' to withdraw your EPF.
Step 9: Enter details, such as the purpose of withdrawal, the EPF amount required, and the employer's address.
Step 10: Submit your application by clicking on the certificate post, which you will be asked to upload scanned documents for the purpose of the withdrawal.
You will receive the EPF amount in your account in a span of 15-20 days after your employer has approved your withdrawal request.
