What is the NDNC Registry?
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has developed an NDNC Filter, i.e. National Do Not Call Registry that is run entirely by the Indian government. The main purpose of NDNC development is to prevent telemarketers from making unnecessary marketing SMS and calls. If you do not want any organisation to receive any promotional SMS or calls, you can add your number to the NDNC registry.
DND De-Registration through SMS
De-registering from DND services can be easily done via SMS. - SMS ‘STOP’ from your mobile phone to 1909. - You will receive an SMS confirming the request for DND (now NCPR) de-registration from your mobile operator.
Deactivate DND Through Voice Call
From your mobile number, dial 1909 and choose either to communicate with the customer service executive or IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System).
If you choose to talk with the Customer Care Director, ask DND services (now NCPR) to be de-registered. The executive will approve the request for cancellation, and you will receive an SMS confirming your request.
If you choose IVR, follow the instructions to de-register your NCPR (old DND) mobile number, and you will receive a confirmation of the request through SMS.
TRAI has also given an option to opt-out of special category promotional SMS; they have divided it into seven categories: Banking and Financial Products, Insurance, Credit Cards, Real Estate, Education, Consumer Goods, and Vehicle/Entertainment/Radio/Communication/IT/Tourism/Leisure.
