The Telangana Government launched the Two-Bedroom (2BHK) Housing Scheme or the Dignity Housing Scheme in 2015 to provide housing to 5.72 lakh unfortunate families in Telangana. Under this scheme, the Telangana Government will provide 2BHK houses to homeless families in the state in a phased manner. The third phase of house distribution under the 2BHK Housing Scheme started on 2 October 2023 to provide 2BHK flats to around 19,000 families.
The Government of Telangana formulated the Two-Bedroom Housing Scheme in October 2015 to provide dignity to the poor by providing 100% subsidised housing. This scheme helps to protect the beneficiaries in rural areas from debt taken for constructing houses since their earning depend on seasonal conditions. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries do not have to take a loan or contribute to acquire a house.
Telangana State Housing Corporation Limited is functioning to fulfil the government’s objectives in providing pucca houses to all the eligible beneficiaries under the 2BHK housing scheme. The main aim of the 2BHK Housing Scheme is to meet the housing needs of Telangana residents who are economically underprivileged. The government wants to improve their living conditions by providing houses and ensuring those in need have access to respectable and safe housing.
The Telangana Government will distribute 5.72 lakh houses to the less fortunate under the 2BHK Housing Scheme. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner and District Collectors have set a guideline to execute the distribution process of 2BHK houses at affordable prices.

Under the 2BHK Housing Scheme or Double Bedroom Housing Scheme, houses contain two bedrooms, a hall, a kitchen and two toilets covering a 560 sqft plinth area. In rural areas, the plot area for independent houses is 125 sq yards and in urban areas, the undivided land share in G+ pattern flats is 36 sq yards. Thus, the beneficiaries receive land free of cost apart from the dwelling unit or house.
