The Union Budget 2019 proposed to allow taxpayers to use Aadhaar instead of PAN to file income tax returns on or after 1 September 2019. It was proposed in the Union Budget 2019 that the income tax officers can allot PAN to taxpayers who file their taxes with Aadhaar.
This article describes the process to check application status. The following are the ways to check your PAN application status:
Step 1. Log on to the official PAN website
Step 2. Select application type as ‘PAN – New/Change Request’ from the drop-down menu.
Step 3.Enter acknowledgement number and click on ‘Submit’.

Step 2. Enter ‘Name’ as given for the PAN application (First Name, Middle Name and Last name/Surname) (Applicants other than ‘Individuals’ should write their name in the field for Last Name/Surname only)
Step 3. Enter ‘Date of birth/ Incorporation/ Agreement/ Partnership or Trust Deed/ Formation of Body of Individuals/ Association of Persons’ and click on ‘Submit’.
