EPFO members can check their PF balance through various methods that are through EPFO portal, using UMANG app, through missed call or SMS services, or through their DigiLocker facility. However, members have to make sure that they have activated their UAN and have linked their KYC. Therefore, EPF balance check can be done both through online and offline methods.

Before checking PF balance through online or offline methods, members should make sure to activate their Universal Account Number and have linked their KYC details. Without these, PF balance check thorugh most of the services will not be possible.
Step 1: Download the UMANG App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and log in using your mobile number.
Step 2: Search for “EPFO” in the app and select “UAN Services Through Face Auth”.
Step 3: Tap on “UAN Activation” to begin the process.
Step 4: Provide your 12-digit UAN, Aadhaar number, and Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Step 5: Click on “Send OTP”, enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number, and submit.
Step 6: Complete the live face scan using your phone camera to verify identity with the UIDAI database (camera permission required).

You can easily do EPF balance check by giving a missed call from your registered mobile by following the steps below:

Step 2: The call will disconnect automatically after two rings.

SMS is one of the easiest methods for PF Balance Check. Follow the below steps for PF balance check through SMS:
Step 1: Send an SMS to 77382 99899 from your registered mobile number.
Step 2: The format should be “EPFOHO UAN ENG”
The last three letters indicate the preferred language you wish to receive the details.
Replace 'ENG' with the code for your preferred language: HIN (Hindi), PUN (Punjabi), GUJ (Gujarati), MAR (Marathi), KAN (Kannada), TEL (Telugu), TAM (Tamil), MAL (Malayalam), or BEN (Bengali) as the facility is available in multiple languages.
Members can also check PF balance through DigiLocker by linking their EPFO account.
Step 1: Log in to the DigiLocker app or website using your mobile number or Aadhaar
Step 2: Go to “Issued Documents” or “Search Documents”
Step 3: Search for “EPFO” services
Step 4: Select “Employee Provident Fund - Passbook”
Step 5: Enter your UAN and verify using OTP sent to your registered mobile number

You do not need a registered mobile number to check PF balance everytime. PF balance check can be done even without a registered mobile number by using UAN and password on the EPFO Member Passbook Portal. Log in with your credentials to view, download or print passbook.
