Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is a government portal containing details of all the companies incorporated in India. It has details of all the types of companies and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP).
One can check the Company registration number, type of company, date of incorporation, charges of a company, directors of the company, etc. from the site. The balance sheets and other documents of a company along with annual returns are also available on the website on payment of appropriate fees.
Steps to Check Company Registration Status :
Step 1: Go to the MCA website.
Step 2: Go to ‘MCA Services’ tab. In the drop-down click on ‘View Company/LLP Master Data’.
Step 3: Enter the companies CIN. Enter the captcha code. Click on ‘Submit’.
You can also search for CIN by clicking on the search icon beside ‘Company/LLP Name’ field.
The result page will show the following details inter-alia –
- Name of Company
- Company category
- Class of company
- Date of Incorporation
- Authorised and paid up capital
- Number of members
- Date of incorporation
- Registered address and e-mail
- Assets under charge
- Details of all the directors of the company

What is RUN? Is it required for company registration?Reservation of name or RUN is a web service used for reserving a name for a new company or to change the name for any existing company.
How can I avail the services of RUN?To avail the services of RUN you need to create an account at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (“MCA”) portal. After creating an account, you can avail the RUN services. You are allowed to propose two names under this service. However, the name applied for will either be approved or rejected and that no resubmissions are allowed.
How long is the approved name valid for?An approved name is valid for 20 days from the date of approval of such name.
