How To Change Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card online?

It is necessary to link or update your mobile number with the UIDAI to use online Aadhaar facilities and services where you receive OTPs on your Aadhaar registered mobile number. If your old mobile number is no longer active or you need to update the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar card, you can easily do so. 

Please note that the facility to update the mobile number in Aadhaar online is no longer available as it has been discontinued by UIDAI. You can now only change your mobile number in Aadhaar offline.

How to Change Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card?

Here is the process to change/ update/ add your mobile number in Aadhaar Card:

Step 1: Go to your nearby Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Step 2: Fill out the Aadhaar update or correction form at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You can also download the Aadhaar update or correction form, fill it out and visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Step 3: Authenticate your details by Biometrics verification at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. 

Step 4: Submit this form to the respective Aadhaar executive along with a service charge of Rs 50. 

You will receive an acknowledgement slip containing the Update Request Number (URN). You can use it to check the status of your update request. Within 90 days, your mobile number will be updated in your Aadhaar database. 

How to Change Mobile Number in Aadhaar Online?

The facility to change or update the mobile number in Aadhaar online has been discontinued. You must visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update your mobile number. 

However, you may follow the below steps to book an appointment online with the Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update the mobile number in your Aadhaar card:

Step 1: Visit the UIDAI website.

Step 2: Navigate to ‘My Aadhaar’ and select the ‘Book an Appointment’ option under the ‘Get Aadhaar’ section.

Step 3: Select your city/location and click on ‘Proceed to Book Appointment’.

Step 4: Enter your mobile number and captcha code and click on ‘Get OTP’.

Step 5: Enter the OTP and click ‘Verify OTP’.

Step 6: Enter your Aadhaar number and name and tick the mobile number option. Then, enter your new mobile number and verify it. 

Step 7: Enter the appointment details and proceed. You can make the payment for updating your mobile number online or at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You will receive an acknowledgement slip containing the appointment details.

Step 8: Visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra at the time of your appointment and complete your Biometrics verification.

The Aadhaar Seva Kendra officials will give you an acknowledgement slip containing the Update Request Number (URN).

How to Change Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card Without OTP?

You can change your mobile number in your Aadhaar card without OTP by following the below steps:

Step 1: Go to your nearby Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Step 2: Fill out the Aadhaar update or correction form at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. 

Step 3: Authenticate your details by Biometrics verification at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. 

Step 4: Submit this form to the respective Aadhaar executive along with a service charge of Rs 50.

The officials will give you an acknowledgement slip containing the Update Request Number (URN) through which you can check the status of your mobile number update request.

Check Aadhaar Card Mobile Number Update Status

After submitting the Aadhaar update or correction form to change/ update your mobile number in Aadhaar, you can check the status of the request online by following the below process:

• Go to the UIDAI website.
• Navigate to ‘My Aadhaar’ and select the ‘Check Aadhaar Status’ option under the ‘Get Aadhaar’ section.
• On the myAadhaar page, click on the ‘Check Enrolment & Update Status’ tab.
• Select ‘URN’ (Update Request Number), enter the URN number and captcha code and click ‘Submit’.
• The status of your request will be displayed on the screen.

How to Verify Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card?

Follow the below process to determine whether or not your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar:

• Go to the UIDAI website.
• Navigate to ‘My Aadhaar’ and click on the 'Verify Email/ Mobile Number’ option under the 'Aadhaar Services' option.
• Select the ‘Verify Mobile Number’ option. Enter the Aadhaar number, mobile number and captcha code and click ‘Submit’.
• Thereafter, you will know if your mobile number is verified with UIDAI records. 

Consequences of not linking Mobile Number with Aadhaar Card

You will not be able to use Aadhaar-related services if your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar card. Some of these services are:

• All online Aadhaar facilities 
• Online EPF claims and withdrawal 
• Application for PAN card 
• Using DigiLocker 
• Mobile re-verification 
• Linking Mutual Fund with Aadhaar 
• Umang App 
• Receive OTP for government-related services

Thus, it is essential to update your mobile number with the UIDAI and ensure that the mobile number in use is linked to your Aadhaar card. There is no restriction on the number of times you can update your mobile number with the UIDAI. However, you will need to pay a fee of Rs.50 to update your mobile number every time.
