Linking an email address with your Aadhaar provides an additional communication channel for UIDAI services and helps improve account security.
You can update your Aadhaar email ID online through the official Aadhaar App. From 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2026, UIDAI is allowing email updates through the app free of cost.
Step 1: Download and open the official Aadhaar App.
Step 2: Log in using your Aadhaar number and complete OTP verification.
Step 3: Select 'Update Email Address'.
Step 4: Enter your new email address.
Step 5: Verify the email address using the OTP sent to your email.
Step 6: Submit the request.
Step 7: Note the Update Request Number (URN) to track the update status.
After your email address has been updated, you can verify whether it has been successfully linked by following these steps:
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website.
Step 2: Navigate to the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and click on ‘Verify Email/Mobile Number’ under ‘Aadhaar Services’.
Step 3: Select 'Verify Email Address', enter your Aadhaar number, email address and CAPTCHA, then click 'Send OTP'.
Step 4: You will receive an OTP on your email. Enter this OTP and click ‘Submit’.
Step 5: Once the verification is successful, a confirmation message will be displayed on the screen.
You can also update your Aadhaar email ID by visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Step 1: Visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Step 2: Fill out the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Form and enter the email address you want to register.
Step 3: Submit the form and complete biometric authentication.
Step 4: Pay the standard demographic update fee of ₹50.
Step 5: Collect the acknowledgement slip containing the 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID) for tracking your request.
