The Udyog Aadhar Registration is a completely online process that is totally free of cost. It is a great boost for SMEs in the country and below we detail the entire process of registration for the same.
In recent times, for boosting small-scale businesses in the country, the Government of India had initiated the Udyog Aadhaar Registration (UAM) process. However, currently, the Udyog Aadhaar Registration is migrated to Udyam Registration. The MSME’s (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) have to apply for Udyam Registration to obtain the benefits provided to MSME by the government.
Earlier, if you wished to start a business and get SSI Registration or MSME Registration, you needed to go through a lot of paperwork. You needed to fill 2 forms: Entrepreneur Memorandum-I and Entrepreneur Memorandum-II (EM-II). The Udyog Aadhar Registration was initiated to simply the MSME or SSI registration. Industries registered with Udyog Aadhar became entitled to receive the benefits of several government schemes such as subsidies, easy loan approvals etc.
Currently, the industries or entrepreneurs having Udyog Aadhaar Registration have to migrate to Udyam Registration to obtain the benefits provided to MSME by 30.06.2022. If the entrepreneurs do not migrate to Udyam Registration, then their UAM will not be valid and they need to re-register under Udyam Portal for obtaining the benefits provided to MSME.
Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum is the registration form wherein the MSME certifies its existence and provides mandatory information such as the owner’s Aadhar details, bank account details etc. After submitting this form, an acknowledgement form is released to the registered email of the applicant containing the unique UAN (Udyog Aadhaar Number). As it is a self-declaration form, there’s no need for any supporting documentation.
Note: The UAM registration does not exist anymore. Any individual wishing to obtain MSME registration has to currently apply for Udyam Registration. The Udyam Registration process is similar to the UAM Registration process. However, now the MSME registration is completely online and there is no offline registration.
