EPFO Grievance

The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers can register their grievances online on the EPF i-Grievance Management System (EPFiGMS). The EPFiGMS allows EPF subscribers to register their complaints and addresses all their queries. EPF subscribers can also check the status of the pending complaints/requests on the EPFiGMS portal.

What is EPFiGMS?

The EPFiGMS is an official portal for grievances or complaints relating to the EPF. All the registered EPF subscribers can lodge their grievances, queries and complaints online through this portal. It is a customised official portal of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to redress the grievances of its subscribers.

The EPFiGMS provides convenience to the EPF subscribers as they can lodge grievances from any place on this portal. The grievances lodged will be sent to the concerned office or department to which the grievances pertain.

After a grievance is registered, the system will generate a unique registration number and auto-generate an acknowledgement through email and SMS. This portal provides faster redressal and ease of registration of EPF grievances.

EPFO Grievances That Can be Registered on EPFiGMS

There are many issues for which EPF subscribers can file grievances on the EPFiGMS. These grievances include the following-

• Transfer of PF accumulation to a new EPF account.
• Final settlement of pension.
• Final settlement/withdrawal of EPF.
• Queries regarding the PF balance.
• Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) Certificate.
• Cheque returned/misplaced.
• Payment of insurance benefit.
• Issue of PF balance/slip.
• Any other concerns.

Who Can Register Complaints on EPFiGMS?

The subscribers of the EPF can register complaints/grievances on the EPFiGMS. The EPF subscribers include the following:

• PF member.
• EPS pensioner.
• Employer.
• Others (Others can be selected only when an individual does not have UAN, PPO number or establishment number).

Registration Process of EPFO Grievance

The steps to register a complaint on the EPFiGMS are as follows:

Step 1: Visit the official website of EPF i-Grievance Management System and click on the ‘Register Grievance’ tab.

Step 2: Select the applicable ‘Status’ option. (If you select the ‘PF Member’ option, select ‘No’ for ‘Do you have claim-ID?’ to proceed)

Step 3: Enter the Universal Account Number (UAN), Pension Payment Order (PPO) Number or Establishment Number, respectively. Enter the security code and click on the ‘Get Details’ button.

Step 4: Scroll down to view the UAN details displayed on the screen. Click on the ‘Get OTP’ button.

Step 5: Enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number and click on the ‘Submit’ button. A verification message will appear upon OTP verification. Click on the ‘Ok’ button to proceed. 

Step 6: Scroll down and enter the personal details, such as gender, address for communication, pin code, country, state and security code.

Step 7: Under the ‘Grievance Details’ section, click on the PF account number to register grievances related to the PF account. Click on ‘Other’ for registering other grievances. 

Step 8: Enter the grievance details by selecting the grievance related to option, grievance category and entering the grievance description. Upload the relevant documents supporting the grievance by clicking on the ‘Choose File’ button and the ‘Attach’ button. After entering the grievance details and uploading the documents, click on the ‘Add’ button.

Step 9: The grievance will be added under the ‘Grievance Details’ section. Click on the ‘Submit’ button to register/lodge the grievance with the EPFO.

Step 10: A registration number will be sent to the EPF subscribers via email and SMS once the grievance has been registered. 

EPFO verifies the registered grievance or complaint before sending it to the respective department for resolution. It usually takes around 15-30 days to resolve the registered grievance.

Process to Check Status of EPFO Grievance

The steps to check the status of the grievance/complaint are as follows:

Step 1: Visit the official website of EPF i-Grievance Management System and click on the ‘View Status’ tab.

Step 2: Enter the registration number received when registering the grievance, mobile number/email ID, and security code, and click on the ‘Submit’ button. If the grievance is registered on the earlier version of the EPFiGMS website, enter the ‘Grievance Password’ instead of the mobile number/email ID.

Step 3: The grievance status will be displayed on the screen.

Process to Send Reminder for Pending EPFO Grievance

When the grievance/complaint is not resolved on time, the subscribers can send reminders to the EPFO to resolve the complaint through the portal. The steps to send a reminder are as follows:

Step 1: Visit the official website of EPF i-Grievance Management System and click on the ‘Send Reminder’ tab.

Step 2: Enter the registration number received while registering the grievance and mobile number/email ID. If the complaint is registered on the earlier version of the EPFiGMS website, enter the ‘Grievance Password’ instead of the mobile number/email ID. Enter the reminder description and security code and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Step 3: A reminder will be sent to the respective department regarding the complaint to take action.

EPFO Helpline Number

The EPF subscribers can also contact the EPF customer care to file a complaint or resolve queries. They can send their complaints or queries to the following email ID:

• Employees can send their complaints or queries to – employeefeedback@epfindia.gov.in
• Employers can send their complaints or queries to – employerfeedback@epfindia.gov.in
• EPF subscribers can even call on the toll-free number to register their complaints at – 1800 118 005

They can also register a complaint via social media on the official EPFO account on Facebook and Twitter. However, it is recommended that the EPF subscribers first register their complaints and grievances or send their queries on the EPFiGMS before sending mail to the email addresses mentioned above or calling the EPFO toll-free number.
