Axis Bank transfers these funds or amounts to Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Funds. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) maintains this DEA fund and allows you to get back your unclaimed deposits when you plan on claiming it.

What Happens to Axis Bank Unclaimed Deposits?

Axis Bank reports the funds that have not been used for the last 10 years are marked as unclaimed deposits to the Reserve Bank of India, and they then transfer them to Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Funds. 

The RBI has started various awareness campaigns to notify depositors about their unclaimed deposits. Even if your funds are unclaimed, you can still get back your money by submitting valid proofs to Axis Bank.

How To Check Axis Bank Unclaimed Deposit?

You can check your unclaimed deposits in Axis Bank both online and offline. Here is a detailed process to claim Axis Bank unclaimed deposits.

Online Process

Step 1: Visit Axis Bank’s unclaimed deposit page.

Step 2: Click the ‘Click Here’ button, which is available beside the option of ‘For Unclaimed Deposits / Inoperative Account search please’.

Step 3: Select the type between ‘Individual’ or ‘Non-Individual’.

Step 4: Enter your name and click on the search icon.

Your name and address will be displayed on the screen if you have unclaimed deposits.

Offline Process

The offline process is very simple. Visit your nearest Axis Bank branch and ask the bank officials about your unclaimed deposits. They will check and tell you if you have any unclaimed deposits.

How To Claim Axis Bank Unclaimed Deposits?

To claim your unclaimed deposits in Axis Bank, you have to visit your nearest branch and complete the processes. Before you visit the bank branch, you need to fill out an ‘Unclaimed Deposits/Inoperative Accounts – Claim Form’, which can be downloaded online from the Axis Bank website. Once you download the form, take a printout and fill it out, you must follow the process below.

  • Claim by Self

In this case, you can visit your nearest branch and submit the filled and signed unclaimed deposit claim form. You have to submit your identity proof and address proof along with this form. 

For unclaimed fixed deposits, you have to visit your nearest Axis Bank branch with the original FD receipt along with the unclaimed deposit claim form and the required documents. If the original FD receipt is missing, you must contact the bank officials.

  • Claim by Non-Individual

In this case, you must submit the claim form on the organisation’s, company’s or firm’s letterhead duly signed by the authorised signatory with their valid ID and address proofs. Axis Bank may ask you for additional documents to verify the details. You should keep the original documents for faster verification during Axis Bank's unclaimed deposit claim procedure.

  • Claim by Legal Heir/Nominee

In case you are a legal heir or nominee of the unclaimed deposits account holder, you have to visit your nearest branch and complete all the legal processes as instructed by the branch officials.

The list of documents required to claim Axis Bank unclaimed deposits are as follows:

  • Unclaimed deposits claim form
  • Identity proof documents
  • Address documents
  • Term deposit receipt, FD receipt or passbook 
  • Copy of the account holder's death certificate (if claimed by the legal heir or nominee)

In case your account has been inactive for 10 years, Axis Bank will report it to RBI and Axis Bank will transfer your funds to the DEA fund. RBI will issue public notices to inform the public about unclaimed deposits. RBI will update the same data in the UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits - Gateway to Access information) portal. The portal is very helpful for searching your unclaimed funds.
