Voting to determine who represents your community and country is a basic right granted to all registered citizens of India. To make it easier for everyone to exercise this right, the Electoral Commission of India launched the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP). The National Voter Service Portal is a website that helps users generate voter ID and view any information on the status of Voter ID application.
The NVSP offers a broad range of services designed to help Indian citizens and NRIs to participate in the country’s election process. Some of these services include:
Follow these steps to register on the NVSP and get access to various online Voter releated services:
Step 1: Visit the National Voters' Services Portal (NVSP).
Step 2: Click on the ‘Sign-Up’ option available on the top right corner of the homepage.
Step 3: Enter your mobile number, email ID and captcha code and click ‘Continue’.
Step 4: Enter your ‘First Name’, ‘Last Name’, ‘Password’, ‘Confirm Password’, and click the ‘Request OTP’ button.
Step 5: Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number and email ID and click ‘Verify’.
Once your OTP is verified, you will be registered on NVSP. You can directly log into NVSP from the next time and access the voter ID-related services.
You must login into NVSP to use its online services. Here is the step-by-step guide to log into to NVSP:
Step 1: Visit the National Voters' Services Portal (NVSP).
Step 2: Click on the ‘Login’ option available on the top right corner of the homepage.
Step 3: Enter your mobile number, password, and captcha and click on the ‘Request OTP’ button.
Step 4: Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number and click the ‘Verify & Login’ button.
Step 1: Login to the National Voters' Services Portal (NVSP).
Step 2: Click the ‘Fill Form 6’ button under the ‘New registration for general electors’ tab or on ‘Fill Form 6A’ under the ‘New registration for overseas(NRI) electors’ in case you are an NRI.
Step 3: Enter all the details on Form 6 or Form 6A, which includes personal details, relatives details, contact details, Aadhaar details, date of birth, address, and declaration.
Step 4: Upload the required documents in the given sections and click the ‘Preview and Submit’ button.
Step 5: Check if the entered details are correct and click ‘Submit’.
You can follow the below to track the Voter ID application status online:
Step 1: Visit the National Voters' Services Portal.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Login’ button. Login by entering your mobile number, password, captcha code and OTP.
Step 3: Once you login, click on the ‘Track Application Status’ tab.
Step 4: Enter the reference number received while submitting Form 6 or Form 6A, select your state and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 5: The voter registration status will be displayed on the screen.
Follow the below steps to download your voter ID card:
Step 1: Visit the National Voters' Services Portal.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Login’ button. Login by entering your mobile number, password, captcha code and OTP.
Step 3: Once you login, click on the ‘E-EPIC Download’ tab.
Step 4: Select the ‘EPIC No’ or ‘Form Reference no.’ option.
Step 5: Enter EPIC number or Form Reference Number, select state and click ‘Search’.
Step 6: The Voter ID details will be displayed on the screen. Click the ‘Send OTP’ button. Please note that if your mobile number is not updated, the ‘Send OTP’ button will not be available.
Step 7: Enter OTP and click on ‘Verify’.
Step 8: Click the ‘Download e-EPIC’ button to download the Voter ID card.
To check whether your name is there in the voter list, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit National Voters' Services Portal.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Search in Electoral Roll’ tab.
Step 3: Select any one of the options - ‘Search by Details’, ‘Search by EPIC’ or ‘Search by Mobile’.
Step 4: Enter the required information and click ‘Search’.
Step 5: When your name is there on the Electoral Roll or Voter List, your details will be displayed on the screen. You can further check if your details are correct by clicking on ‘View Details’ under the ‘Action’ column.
Registering yourself on the NVSP is essential as it helps you to check if your name is there on the Voter List, correct any wrong entries on your Voter ID card, download an e-EPIC card, etc. You can access various voter card services online at your convenience when you register on NVSP without having to visit the state election offices.
