Context- Some taxpayers are unaware of the ERI registration process, and How many ERIs can be active for a given PAN at a time. This document intends to address those queries, and the steps detailed below will help in resolving the same.
If you are a Cleartax user, you are required to Register your PAN as a client on the Platform to perform the following tasks:
1. To Prefill your Income Tax return
2. To Prepare, review and submit it directly through Cleartax
3. To E verify such Filed ITR via Aadhar OTP or EVC
4. To download the Filed return Acknowledgment and Filed Form.
If you face this error when registering your PAN as a client, it means:
Step 1: Checking ERI Status on Income Tax account
Log in to your income tax account. Click on Authorised Partners >>My E return Intermediary.
You can see two tabs, Active and Inactive, as shown below:
Step 2: Activating ClearTax ERI (ERIP000708)
Once ClearTax ERI appears in the active tab, you may proceed with your return filing on ClearTax.
Step 3: What to do if Cleartax ERI ID is not shown in the Inactive tab?
If ClearTax ERI does not appear in the active tab, you must register your PAN by authenticating it through an OTP on ClearTax.
