Bihar Mukhyamantri Vridhajan Pension Yojana (MVPY)

The Bihar Mukhyamantri Vridhajan Pension Yojana (MVPY) provides financial assistance to senior citizens in Bihar. The Bihar MVPY was launched on 1 April 2019  by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri. Nitish Kumar to render financial support to elderly people. It is a state-run old-age pension scheme where the beneficiaries will receive a monthly pension. 

Under this scheme, the state government will render financial assistance in the form of a pension to aged persons above 60 years of age in Bihar. The minimum age to get registered under this scheme is 60 years. It comes under the social welfare department. It aims to make every senior citizen in Bihar independent in their old age. 

Eligibility Under Bihar MVPY

• The applicant should be a permanent resident of Bihar.
• The applicant must have completed 60 years of age.
• The applicant should belong to a Below Poverty Line category.
• The applicant should not be a retired government employee. 

Benefits Provided Under Bihar MVPY

The scheme applies to all eligible senior citizens of 60 years and above. The benefits provided as pension to the beneficiaries of this scheme are as follows:

• For senior citizens above 60 years- A monthly pension of Rs.400.
• For senior citizens above 80 years – A monthly pension of Rs.500. 

This scheme can be availed by every senior citizen who fulfils the above-stated eligibility criteria irrespective of their caste, community and religion.

Bihar MVPY Application Procedure

The process for applying for the Bihar MVPY is as follows:

• The applicant needs to register by filling in the verification for the MVPY form on the SSPMIS website (Social Security Pension Management Information System website).
• After filling the form, the applicant must verify and validate it from Aadhaar by clicking on the ‘Validate Aadhaar (Verify Aadhaar)’ button.
• After the validation, the MVPY registration form will open. 
• The applicants have to fill in the details on the MVPY registration form like personal details, bank account details, address details, etc. 
• Upon filling and submitting the MVPY registration form, the registration process will be completed.

Documents Required For Bihar MVPY

The eligible beneficiaries should have the following documents to apply for the Bihar MVPY:

• Aadhar Card.
• Income Certificate.
• Date of Birth Certificate.
• Voter’s ID.
• Bank Account.
• Bank Statement or Passbook having the details of Bank Name, Bank Branch and IFSC code.

The applicants need to mandatorily have an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) card and Aadhaar Card for obtaining benefits under this scheme. The applicants also need to mandatorily have a Bank Account with the consent to use for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The bank account of the beneficiary should be linked to Aadhaar. The pension amount will be directly credited to the bank account of the beneficiary.
