The hilly state of J&K has finally passed the laws needed to make GST a reality. With the President's nod, the new tax policy will now be live in the state.
Updates from 07th July, 2017
The President today gave his nod to an order that provides for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The J&K state government had passed a resolution on Wednesday, in the state assembly, and a draft order was cleared for the President’s assent. Due to J&K’s special status in the Constitution, the state has the powers to enact its own tax laws. All the other states have already enacted the GST laws, and J&K is the only state where the new tax law is still not levied.
