The President today gave his nod to an order that provides for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The J&K state government had passed a resolution on Wednesday, in the state assembly, and a draft order was cleared for the President’s assent. Due to J&K’s special status in the Constitution, the state has the powers to enact its own tax laws. All the other states have already enacted the GST laws, and J&K is the only state where the new tax law is still not levied.
As reported in the First Post
