Taxpayers can e-file their income tax returns and make other income tax related compliances by logging in to the income tax e-filing portal. You can log into the e-filing portal using your PAN/Aadhaar and the password created during registration.
If you want to change your existing password, you can log in to the income tax e-filing portal and follow these steps:
Step 1: Log in to the income tax portal “www.incometax.gov.in” by entering your user ID, existing password and confirm your secure access message.
Step 2: Click on ‘Change Password’ under ‘My Profile’ on the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Enter your current password and the new password of your choice. Then, confirm your new password. The new password must have characters between 8 and 14, uppercase and lowercase letters, at least one number and one special character.
Note: Do not click Refresh or Back.
Step 4: Click on ‘Submit’
Step 5: Once you have submitted successfully, you will receive a confirmation email and SMS in your registered email ID and mobile number.
