The generation of an e-invoice is applicable for taxpayers whose aggregate turnover exceeds Rs.5 crores. The e-invoice is a complement to the original invoice & e-way bills, which contain basic details of the invoice. Along with the GST Portal & e-way Bill Portal, the GST authorities had introduced the e-Invoice Portal for the generation of e-invoices. Hence, it is important that correct mobile numbers and email IDs are registered with these portals. In this article, we will discuss how a taxpayer can change the registered mobile number on the E-Invoice Portal.
The e-Invoice Portal is widely used for the creation of e-invoices and the amendment of previously generated e-invoices. These generated e-invoices are used as input in the GST Portal & e-way Bill Portal for further validation. The portal provides other options such as MIS reports, API registration and user management.
The registered mobile number on the e-invoice portal is much more than just a contact detail. Hence, the registered mobile number must be correct. Mobile number on the e-invoice portal is used for the following purposes:
It will be much easier for the taxpayer if a consistent mobile number is used across all the above portals. This will keep the taxpayer periodically updated and avoid non-compliance.
The e-Invoice portal does not have a direct option to update the mobile number within the website. To change/update a new mobile number, the user must visit the GST common Portal and apply for an amendment of GST registration details (non-core fields). Once you submit the amendment of the mobile number, the GST Network updates the mobile number details on all the portals.
You can update the registered mobile number and/or e-mail ID once every thirty days. You must keep the previous mobile number accessible and active until the new mobile number gets updated. Therefore, you can continue doing the OTP authentication and getting notifications. Ensure you change to a correct and active mobile number to never miss any notifications from the authorities.
