The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), launched in 1952 by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, helps salaried individuals build a retirement corpus. Both employees and employers contribute 12% of the basic salary and dearness allowance to the EPF account each month. Over time, this amount grows and can be accessed during emergencies or retirement. The EPF passbook is a vital document that tracks all contributions, interest earned, and withdrawals, thus making it essential for managing your EPF account effectively.
