Any person who has taken a Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) policy can check its status regularly. A LIC policy protects against contingencies, but checking their status is essential. When the policy premium is not paid on time, it may result in the lapse of the policy. A lapsed policy will be futile; thus, policyholders need to check the status of their LIC policies to know the premium payment dates.
Sometimes, you may miss out on paying the policy premium, and the grace period may go unnoticed. You can avoid such situations by checking your LIC policy status and being updated about upcoming premium payments. Apart from premium payment dates, you can also get to know the basic details of the policy, plan term, date of commencement, sum assured, first unpaid premium, interim bonus, etc., by checking its status.
With the introduction of the LIC online platform, you can check your policy status online without visiting the LIC branch office. LIC has also provided mobile services through which customers can check their policy or premium payment status. However, you need to know the policy number while checking the policy status through SMS or call.
You can check your LIC policy details by registering on the LIC e-services portal. Below are the steps to check the LIC policy for new users:
Step 1: Go to the LIC website and click the ‘Login to Customer Portal’ option on the homepage.
Step 2: Click the ‘New User’ button on the page.
Step 3: Enter the policy number, instalment premium, DOB, gender, email, and PAN and click the ‘Proceed’ button.
Step 4: Enter the Login and password credentials and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 5: A confirmation mail will be sent to your email ID upon successful registration. Click on the URL given in the confirmation mail.
Step 6: A new page will open. On this page, enter the details of your LIC policy, such as date of birth, policy number, premium amount, etc., and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 7: The status of the policy will be displayed on the screen.
Below are the steps to check the LIC policy for registered users:
Step 1: Go to the LIC website and click the ‘Login to Customer Portal’ option on the homepage.
Step 2: Click the ‘Registered User’ button on the page.
Step 3: Enter your username and password and click the ‘Sign In’ button.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Policy Status’ tab.
Step 5: You will see the list of all your LIC policies that you have enrolled for.
Step 6: Click on the policy number you want to check the status from the list.
Step 7: The details of the policy will be displayed on the screen.
The LIC has introduced the SMS and phone call service to know the LIC policy status without logging in to the LIC website. Thus, even if you are not registered on the LIC e-services portal, you can inquire about the status of your policies through SMS or call. These services ensure that the policyholders who do not have internet access can stay updated about their LIC policy status. The two ways of LIC policy status check without registration are provided below.
LIC offers an SMS service for checking LIC policy status to help customers stay updated throughout the policy term. To know your LIC policy status through SMS, type the message - ‘SMS LICHELP <pol.no.>’ and send it to 9222492224.
You can know the LIC policy status by calling the LIC customer care number at +91-02268276827. The services on the customer care number are available in English, Hindi and eight regional languages between 08:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
