Patta is the legal document that a person owns the land. If Patta is registered in someone’s name, it means that he/she is the legal landholder of the area. The Tamil Nadu government is thinking about making Patta legal for land registration to increase the security of the process and prevent scams. However, currently, properties or lands in Tamil Nadu can be registered by furnishing either with the Patta document or the parent documents of the land.
