Tarang Sanchar Portal is a web portal that provides information on mobile towers and Electro Magnetic Fields (EMF) signals. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has developed the Tarang Sanchar Portal in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode with the industry. People can track radiation emitted from mobile towers in their locality and check compliance with the stipulated norms on the portal.
The portal will inform consumers about the mobile towers in a particular area and whether they comply with the government’s EMF emission norms. It also lets people know the latest developments and corresponding information regarding EMF emissions from mobile towers and submit their feedback.

Locate telecom tower
Anyone can locate the telecom tower by entering the location. After entering the location, individuals should provide the details, such as name, email ID, phone number, and captcha code and click the ‘Send me a Mail with OTP’ button. Upon entering the OTP received on the email ID, individuals can view the map-based mobile towers near their entered locality with EMF safety status.
Locate a telecom tower with GPS
When clicked on ‘My Location’, individuals can view the map-based mobile towers with their EMF safety status based on the current location. The GPS location of telecom towers is enabled for PC, tablets and mobiles.
EMF overview
When clicked on the ‘EMF Overview’ option on the homepage, a document containing the details and information about EMF will open in another tab.

Learning resources on EMF
The portal has articles, booklets and videos on topics related to the telecom industry, such as EMF, mobile networks, radio, etc., to educate the citizens about EMF and coverage of telecom services.
DoT initiatives
The portal has articles and leaflets on EMF exposure by the DoT (Department of Telecommunications) to educate and clear citizens’ doubts about EMF.
EMF measurement request by public
Anyone can request EMF measurement at a location by paying the fee of Rs. 4,000 online. The local Telecom Enforcement Resource and Monitoring (TERM) field unit of the DoT will conduct tests and provide the test report to the requestor.
Measurements by DoT field unit
People can view the EMF audit reports of mobile towers and EMF audit reports done on public request by selecting the state and year. The audit reports contain details about the mobile tower's address, measured EMF value for that tower, DoT limit and compliance status.
The Tarang Sanchar Portal contains technical details of over 23.65 lakh Base Stations (BTSs) spread across the country of each technology (2G, 3G, 4G) and of every Telecom Service Provider (TSP). It is an initiative of the DoT to educate and make information available to the people regarding the mobile towers in their locality and their EMP safety status.
