The GST Network (GSTN) released the February 2025 GST collection report on March 1, 2025. According to the advisory, the total GST collected for the month was Rs.1,83,646 crore, down from Rs.1,95,506 crore in January 2025.
The February 2025 GST collection is low as compared to the previous month. The monthly GST collection for February 2025 shows a growth of only 9.1% compared to the previous month when it was 12.3% Year-on-year (YoY) basis.
February 2024 collection stood at Rs.1,68,337 crores per the same report.
The key components of February include CGST at Rs.35,204 crores, SGST at Rs.43,704 crores, IGST at Rs.90,870 crores, and Cess at Rs.13,868 crores. Domestic Transactions witnessed a robust Y-o-Y growth of 10.2%, while revenues from imports rose by 5.4%.
The government also released the state-wise GST collections for February 2025. Maharashtra again leads the states in absolute gross monthly revenue, followed by Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.
Ladakh, Nagaland, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tripura, Sikkim, and Tamil Nadu saw the highest and lowest year-on-year growth in February 2025, ranging from 32% to (-46%).
Key contributors to monthly revenue, such as Maharashtra and Karnataka, reported growth of 13% and 10 %, respectively, but there was a fall compared to January 2025.

To conclude, there has been a good momentum seen in the monthly GST collections as per details in the report. We expect the March 2025 collections to close at a higher range being financial year end closure with annual reconciliations and adjustments expected from the taxpayers.
