GST Collections October 2024: State Wise Break-up of GST Collections in October 2024

The GST collection report for October 2024 was released on 1st November 2024 by the GST Network. As per the detailed advisory released on the GST portal, the gross monthly GST collection for October 2024 stands at Rs.1,87,346 as against the GST collections of last month which stood at Rs.1,73,240 crores. It shows a year-on-year growth of 8.9% versus 6.5% for last month. The month-on-month numbers have improved month-on-month due to the growth in consumption during the festive season.

Analysis of the GST Collection for October 2024

The monthly GST collections for October 2024 show a fair year-on-year growth of 8.9%. CGST for October 2024 accounted for Rs.33,821 crore, SGST was Rs.41,864 crores, IGST stood at Rs.99,111 crores, and cess was Rs.12,550 crores. We can observe a year-on-year increase in domestic transactions (up 10.6%) and imports (up 3.9%). 

GST Collection for October 2024 State-wise

The Government has also released the state-wise GST collections for October 2024. The trend from the previous month continues in October 2024, with Maharashtra leading states for absolute gross monthly revenue. States like Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh follow it.

The states showing the highest YoY growth for October 2024 include Ladakh, Kerala, and Puducherry which showed a 20-30% growth rate compared to October 2023. They are followed by Gujarat, Chandigarh, Haryana, Tripura, Meghalaya and West Bengal, which posted 15-17% growth rates. 

States with the highest monthly revenue contribution, such as Karnataka and Maharashtra, showed a Y-o-Y growth of 9% and 14%, respectively.

Post-Settlement GST is cumulative of the GST revenues of the States/UTs and the SGST portion of the IGST settled to the States/UT

As expected, we witnessed a steep rise in GST revenues for October 2024 with the festive season. This trend will continue in the coming months with the GST rate rationalisation measures in the upcoming GST Council meetings. The government has begun releasing the GST monthly revenue reports on the GST portal in a few months. The October 2024 monthly GST revenue report was released on 1st November 2024.
