GST collections for January 2025 is the second highest in FY 2024-25, after April 2024. The monthly GST collections for January 2025 show a healthy Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) growth of 12.3%. The January 2024 collections stood at Rs.1,74,106 crore as per the same report. Key revenue components of January 2025 include CGST at Rs.36,077 crore, SGST at Rs.44,942 crore, IGST at Rs.1,01,075 crore, and cess at Rs.13,412 crore. The growth in the monthly GST collections can be attributed to higher consumer spending, particularly in sectors such as retail, automobiles, and construction around the end of 2024. The revenue augmentation measures are paying off well and are expected to continue to reflect in the monthly collections in the coming months too. The tax relief introduced at the Union Budget 2025 is set to boost consumption in India, and this will positively impact the GST collections in the months to come.
